My name is Deborah, and I am not very interesting. What a terrible thing to say as an opening statement, right? Why should you stick around and read what I have to say if I’m not interesting? Despite my lackluster lifestyle, my “normalcy”, I try to find the amusing in the mundane. I try to find the epic in the boring. It doesnt always happen, but I believe when it does it should be put on the internet for all the world to see.
I was born in the great State of Texas, learned to talk in California, spent some time in Colorado and Wyoming, came back to Texas for high school and have been here ever since. I love Texas! I am a proud Texan, and will be until I leave this earth. I have lived other places though, I have seen the beauty in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I have spent days holed up in my house during a Wyoming plains blizzard. I have dealt with black ice, earthquakes, tornadoes, snow, tropical storms, hurricanes, and extreme heat indices. I have seen temps below zero, and above 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
I have canned my own fruits and veggies. I have learned to make the best, most flaky pie crust you will ever eat and I cant even tell you how I do it…I just do it. I can dry and preserve fruit and make my own jerky. I have a heart and passion for food and what good food can do for people. Its something my mother had, and something she instilled in me.
Oh yeah, I’m married! And a mother! My husband and I started dating the end of 2005 and got married Summer 2013, in January 2014 we adopted a dog from our local animal shelter, and our first child (a daughter) was born December 2015! It has most definitely been a learning experience and an adventure in humility, compromise, and a heaping dose of “deal with what you’ve been dealt”. I love our life together, I love our little family. Our dog is the prettiest, best dog I’ve ever had, and my little girl is the best gift that has ever happened to me! I wouldn’t trade this life for anything.
Why should you read my blog? Why should you stick around and read what I’ve have to say about this crazy, ordinary, wonderful life I lead? Because I’m fun! Because of my uncanny wit and sarcasm. Because even though I don’t jetset across the world, or know how to extreme coupon (even though I want to learn and do these things and more), I am just like everyone else; trying to figure out this amazing thing called life. I’m learning. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my journey so far, its community is important. We are not designed to do this alone, but for community. We are designed to learn from others who have gone thru similar things and share our own lessons learned and maybe help guide someone else so we can all lead the best life possible.
So lets share our stories. Lets do this together. Lets learn to live the best life we can…together.
