My name is Deborah, and I wanted to take a few minutes and introduce myself to you.
I am closer to thirty than I am 20 and am actually okay with it. July 2013 I married to my best friend (cheesy, but very true!). The end of January 2014, we adopted a Lab/Red Dog Mix and she is wonderful! I gravitate towards the kitchen. I love cooking, baking, eating, and hospitality, love is not the right word…I thrive on those things. I am one crafty lady. I actually enjoy running, or at least my first foray into it… I work in a restaurant (you’ve been warned). I love reading, Netflix, and HuluPlus. I love my friends, my family, and am a follower of God.
Sound like it should be my bio?
Let me elaborate.
I am married. Sounds easy enough right? My husband and I started dating in 2005. We got married in 2013. We dated a full seven years before we even got engaged and only lived together for two weeks before we got married. In a time when A billboard top 40 hits last longer at #1 than some marriages…dating for seven years is a long time. More on being married and our adventures later though. 🙂
We rescued a dog! In January 2014 we adopted a beautiful 1 year old Lab mix we named River, from our local animal shelter. She is amazing! She was part of the family from the start and has been such a blessing to us. As the months have passed her personality has come thru and she is thriving in her new home with us. She is our sweet girl and we dont know what we would do without her. We love our River!!!
In the Kitchen. I love being in the kitchen. I know that sounds ridiculous, but its where i always end up no matter where I go. I love cooking, finding new things to try with stuff i have in the pantry already. I love baking! I want to go to Culinary School for Pastry/Baking. Im not sure what to do with it yet, but I will figure it out. I believe food is an important part in our lives, and i believe in the power of good food from the heart. With that said, I enjoy taking care of people thru food and hospitality. There are few things that make me happier than being able to satisfy and take care of people from my kitchen. It is truly from my heart to your home.
I am one crafty lady. Much to my husbands dismay, I inherited my mothers creative genes. My mother had this insane knack for being good at anything she tried. I do not have that gene, but I try it anyway. I crochet, scrapbook, write, sing, cook, bake, make crafty things, love DIY projects, and lots of other things that will eventually make its way onto here.
I work in a restaurant. Having mentioned my love for all things kitchen, food, and hospitality related, my employment in a restaurant would not come as much of a surprise. What might come as a surprise is how much I hate it! I love being in my kitchen, with my rules, my organization, and being able to tell people what I think. I can do NONE of that at work. To combat my love/hate relationship with my job I have come up with a hashtag i loving call #thingsiwanttotellcustomers. And to me fellow employees who can be as dumb as a ton of bricks I have lovingly started #thingsiwanttotellservers. I am more than positive they will come up and you can follow those adventures under said hashtags. ❤
Reading, HuluPlus, and Netflix, oh my! As self-explanatory as this is, I feel like I must clarify. I am not a great reader. I love to read. I love books. I do own and regularly use a Kindle because its easier for me to carry around, but there is something about the feeling of a new book in your hands…the wonder, the hope, the possibility. I read all kinds of things. I do not read (or watch) anything related to horror/thrillers/or scary movies. I do watch the Walking Dead though (weird, I know…i cant explain it). Im not a big fan of science fiction/fantasy, but if in the right mood I can read it. I love scifi shows though! And action! My husband is a geek. He is my wikilink for all things comic universe related. You can follow him on Tumblr at theholygeekdom. This fall we will be watching shows like Arrow, The Flash, Constantine, Gotham, S.H.I.E.L.D., and various other shows. I will be watching those along with Greys Anatomy, Revenge, Once Upon a Time, Bones, Hart of Dixie, and maybe some others. Needless to say, Hulu is worth it for this family. And what we miss on Hulu, we make up for in Netflix.
I actually enjoy running. When I say running, I mean jogging, and when I say jogging, I mean walking at a pace that maybe resembles jogging, if youre really slow. I’m not very fast at all, but I’m working on it. Its a process, one I’m learning, and one I’m going to share on here.
I am a follower of God.I was raised Christian. I can still be called a Christian, but there are so many negative connotations involved with that word these days. There is so much hate associated with being a Christian. Let me be bold and state what I believe. I believe in the LGBTQ community. There is so much hurt, fear, and uncertainty surrounding them, that I want to say you are loved. you are cared for. You are wonderful the way you are. God CREATED you, and He LOVES you. I believe in marriage equality. I believe if two people want to make commitments to each other, they deserve all the benefits that commitment entails, straight, gay, or anything else. There should not be restrictions on who gets the benefit of a union based simply on sexual orientation. Thats just ridiculous. I believe women have the right to choose whether or not they want to remain pregnant, free of judgement, or the fear of going to some back street, dirty clinic, that is likely to do more harm than good. Personally, I would choose to remain pregnant, but that does NOT mean I judge or think less of anyone that chooses another decision. No government should be able to tell us what we can or cannot do with our bodies. I am anti-bullying. I am multi-faith friendly. In short I am pro-humanity. I love people. I genuinely care for people. I believe I am called to care for people. I believe the only one who can judge us is God. I believe in a God that loves, and forgives. I believe in the covanent God created with ALL people thru Christ death and Resurrection. Im still working thru some other things, but I think that covers all the bases.
If you’ve made it this far, CONGRATS!!!! Thats a big deal, and Thank you! Thank you for taking the time to read all my ramblings. My hope is to inform and inspire you on your own journey. I will not argue on a public forum. You are free to comment, but I will delete anything negative, or deprecating to a people group.
Stick to this rule “If you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all.” Its what my Mother taught me and its worked for me for almost 30 years.
Other than that, enjoy! I hope you find something you like in all this.
